About
Olive Wood Evia (Pty) Ltd is a company that was born out of the ashes of the 2021 Evia wildfires. We were determined to not let the beautiful old olive trees go to waste. We leveraged our in-depth knowledge of olive wood and the import/export business to create a company that carefully selects old-growth olive wood. Not only do we export it in bulk, but we also mill, machine, and manufacture the wood for various purposes and products.
We have harvested some 300-year-old and 500-year-old trees, and we continue to carefully select old-growth olive wood. Our wood products are not just beautiful, but also environmentally friendly.
We ship internationally and supply the following:
- large slabs and cookies on a wholesale basis,
- blocks and blanks for craftsmen and hobbyists.
As an added service, we can also put our small engineering workshop to use should you need us to produce tools, precision grinding blocks and other specialised tools that you cannot get anywhere else.
Olive Wood Evia is a company that is dedicated to preserving the beauty of nature and creating products that are both functional and sustainable. Our products are perfect for anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature and wants to make a positive impact on the environment.
If you’re looking for high-quality, beautiful and sustainable olive wood products, Olive Wood Evia is the company for you.
North Evia
Olives have always been an integral part of Greek life and culture since ancient times. The groves are cultivated with great care, employing traditional methods that involve hand-picking olives and individually pruning and tending to each tree. This meticulous approach contributes to the unique growth patterns of each tree, resulting in a wild and distinctive grain.
North Evia, where the company is based, is known for its green and forested landscapes due to its high rainfall. The surrounding water-bodies moderate the climate, allowing any extreme heat to simply dissipate. North Evia’s geography, climate, and environment further enhance the quality of its olive trees; these factors contribute to the development of trees with amazingly rich bands of color, ranging from very light off-white and nude, through to pink, orange, caramel, dark grey and charcoal to deep black.
The soil in North Evia is rich and fertile, fostering excellent spring growth. As a result, the olive wood exhibits strong banding and colour contrast. Consequently, North Evia is renowned for producing the finest grades of olive wood. This unique weather pattern is not common and is exclusive to North Evia and to only a few other small areas in Spain, Portugal, and Italy.
Evia is not only an agricultural centre but also home to some of the oldest olive trees in the world. The ancient olive groves continue to play a significant role in the island’s farming activities, encompassing olive-related products, dairy, citrus fruits, and honey.
Despite being a hidden gem that does not immediately catch one’s attention, Evia has quietly gained international recognition for its premier feta cheese, olive oil, dried figs, and, of course, its spectacular olive wood.
